This Special Master Workshop is in conjunction with the exhibition, "All that Remains is Nowhere: a sampling of 21st Century book arts", curated by Margot Ecke.
Margot Ecke will be leading this one day workshop introducing students to the Historic Longstitch book structure, a popular bookbinding style prevalent in Northern Europe during the 1300's. Due to it's flexible nature and decorative stitched spine, this structure has regained popularity especially with artists and writers, who use these books for sketching and for journals. The leather cover adds a rustic feel to the book while the colorful stitching adds sophistication.
Students will construct and design one book during this four hour course.
PLEASE NOTE - Students will be required to pay the instructor a supply fee of $35.00 at time of class.
